AMEN: New Video Interview With CASEY CHAOS Available

December 5, 2008

Amoeba.com recently conducted an interview with Casey Chaos, the enigmatic, energetic, and perennially self-destructive frontman for Los Angeles "punk" band AMEN. Watch the three-minute chat below.

Casey Chaos announced in August that he was making "much-needed and overdue changes to his lifestyle" and checking himself into Hollywood's Wonderland rehabilitation center.

For over a decade, Chaos had been prescribed various meds for pain and treatment of his various health issues. These, combined with grueling touring schedules and heavy drinking while on the road, had worn on Chaos and caused his health and state of mind to deteriorate further.

Chaos said that he would document his treatment and recovery by recording and putting the finishing touches on the as-yet-untitled forthcoming AMEN album, as well as the album's artwork.

"We're an unsigned band at this point, so we're not under pressure from any labels," Chaos explained at the time. "I've been able to take my time making this album right, and right now is the best time for me to be working… I want to inspire others to want to take this step. I don't want to be one of those drugged-out rock star junkies you see playing '70s retro music."

AMEN's last collection of new studio recordings, "Death Before Musick", was released in 2004 through EatUrMusic — a Columbia Records imprint owned by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian.

Malakian — who makes a cameo appearance in AMEN's "California's Bleeding" video — met AMEN singer Casey Chaos when both bands played at Australia's Big Day Out festival in 2002 and the guitarist made AMEN his first signing.
